This cat belongs to a neighbor, and is a good hunter, as I have witnessed by the clusters of feathers he occasionally lays at the doorstep of my garden shed.
But what I saw was not the "Mighty Hunter" tossing feathers in the air...
It was this spunky little bird that was playing cat and
I had a right mind to warn the poor little bird, but instead I went inside to get my camera. When I came back out Mighty Hunter was in stalk mode again.
He seemed to be pretty comfortable in between the grass and the sidewalk, while the little Jay picked up a friend.
Now they were both rushing up to the low laying hunter, and then hopping off again. I was afraid for the cat!
Eventually the cat tired of the chase, and sauntered off to his home again. The little birds followed him for awhile, and then took to the trees.
Oh, how funny! HEY...great news, my Oriole came back today and ate from his feeder. He had disappeared since he broke my hummingbird feeder and Momma said, "He's heard you yell at Mike and thought he better stay away for a while!" LOL
ReplyDeleteHe just sat out there and filled his little belly and then flew around to the front to check out the nectar feeder, not a big fan. lol He loves the jelly though.
These pics are awesome!
I was out there for about half an hour watching these bold birds chase the cat... it was hilarious.
DeleteOh, kewl, maybe you can get some pics of your Oriole! Your mom sounds like a hoot :-)
Thanks Jo, it's fun to share the visual world.
She is a hoot! The gorgeous guy came while all of our company was here. Two guys were sitting outside and he just jumped up there and started chipping away at this apple slice and his jelly. Then he raised his head and 'yelled'. Momma said, "He is thanking you, I think." We all laughed. I thought he wanted those men to get out of his space! I got one pic of him...but he doesn't usually sit long enough to focus. I do love their loud and beautiful conversations.
ReplyDeleteHeheheh.. well the visuals you have in your mind are worth a mint! You ought to be writing a story about your Momma :-)
DeleteI totally get this. I can spend hours watching my cats and their shenanigans. The caption on the bird chat was a fine touch. LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you Darlene :-) This was a fun thing to spend time with.
DeleteLove your pictures and the story that goes with!!
